Ahead of OnePlus 13 speculations, the OnePlus 13R is also making the headlines. The toned down version of the OnePlus 13 — the OnePlus 13R has recently surfaced on several certification websites, indicating a launch soon. According to the media reports, the phone is expected to debut in China in December, named as the OnePlus Ace 5. And the launch in India is rumoured to be scheduled in January, the same month as the release of the OnePlus 13. However, it is not a surprise, considering that the OnePlus 12 and 12R were also launched in the same month, January 2024.
The OnePlus 13R is rumored to offer a larger battery at a more affordable price compared to the flagship OnePlus 13. Recently, it was reportedly submitted to the Global Certification Forum (GCF), where its listing mainly confirms 5G capability. However, the certification also reveals potentially important new model numbers for the device.
The OnePlus 13R is expected to feature a 6.78-inch BOE X2 8T LTPO display with a 1.5K resolution. Previous leaks suggest it will run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, just a step-down from the OnePlus 13 featuring a Snapdragon 8 Elite. The phone is rumoured to include a triple rear camera setup, with a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies. An alert slider is also anticipated, adding convenience. Powering the device is a substantial 6,300mAh battery, supported by 100W fast charging, making the upcoming phone a potential powerhouse for heavy users.
To recap, the OnePlus 12R had a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary camera, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, so this model might be gaining a telephoto sensor as an upgrade.
The OnePlus 13 is set to deliver significant upgrades over its predecessor, the OnePlus 12. A key highlight is the processor, as the device will be among the first to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
Battery life and fast charging remain areas where OnePlus excels, and the OnePlus 13 is likely to continue this trend. It’s rumoured to feature a 6,000mAh battery, a significant jump from the 5,400mAh battery in the previous model, offering extended usage for users on the move. Additionally, the phone is expected to support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, enabling fast and convenient power-ups.
